Coursework
Language-Oriented
ITAL 2020 | Intermediate Italian
This course continued in advanced grammar while also providing practice of real-life conversations with classmates and via online connections with Italian tutors. As a final project, with a partner, we created a newscaster-type variety show, completely in Italian.
ITAL 3070 | Italian Civilization & Culture
While studying abroad in Genova, IT for the Architecture program, I independently participated in this course as well, utilizing my in-person cultural experiences along with a course-assigned reading. The final project was therefore a result of an enriched experience of living in a less touristy city on the Ligurian coast, while also having traveled across the Northern half of the country.
ITL 301 | Off-Campus LdM Firenze Advanced Italian
As part of my Italian study abroad program in Firenze, through a third party program, LdM, I partook in this four week course. Each afternoon, we would meet for several hours learning complex grammar, colloquialisms, and the distinctive Fiorentine accent. Instruction, conversation, and assignments were completely in Italian. The final project was a fifteen minute presentation of the cultural and architectural history of Firenze's medieval streets.
ITL 3160 | Italian for International Business I
Currently, this class focuses on a textbook where we are learning the details of Italian cordiality, business affairs, and customs. We meet once a week and complete in-class activities, homework, and several exams, all in Italian. The class will conclude with a final oral presentation concerning the ethics and manners of business in Italy.
ITAL 4160 | Italian for International Business II
I completed this course first, in the Fall 2025 semester, and during the course we were assigned several readings and projects to better be prepared for future business affairs conducted in Italy and in Italian.
Culture & Literature
ANTH 2010 | Introduction to Anthropology
This course was a brief introduction into the studies of anthropology, covering humanity's origins and biological traits as communities formed and evolved, as well as a short foray into biology, genetics, and linguistics. The final research paper detailed an ethnographic analysis through the lens of an alien, a third party 'source'.
LANG 3000 | Introduction to Linguistics (HON)
Introductions to syntax, phonemes, and morphemes were key elements to the course lectures and initial project. The second half of the course focused on language as part of culture, and how different dialects affect communities. In addition to the final project, I wrote a research paper for my Honors-contract component, writing about the significance of linguistic diversity, especially within the context of the American 'graveyard' for languages. As a case study, I researched my ancestral history of the ethnoreligious groups of the Mennonite and Amish.
ENGL 2020 | Literary Forms + Creative Writing
In this course we were challenged with writing various pieces from different perspectives, exploring our individual identity and voice, but also experimenting with playing a character or characters within a dialogue-based creative story.
This page details the coursework I have taken in my undergraduate academic journey. Feel free to also check out my coursework samples, which I have linked below.

Architecture Related
ARCH 2700 | Structures I
As a brief introduction into the worlds of physics, engineering, and construction, we learned about various structural types, created several study models, and tested several with regards to weight and strength. Each project was formed around a study model, detail drawings, and papers, which culminated in a final portfolio.
ARCH 3040 | Modern Architecture in a Global Context
As the third course in our architectural history studies, this class focused specifically on architecture around the world, looking at motifs, traditions, and vernacular similarities and differences. The final research paper was an individually-chosen topic, where I researched Singapore's rise as a global city through its strategic use of green architecture and sustainability concerns.
Landscape Architecture
LARC 1150 | Introduction to Landscape Architecture
As a seminar course, we were introduced to the overall principles of landscape architecture. Alongside the lectures we had a series of related homework assignments that offered a basic understanding of how the process of designing the landscape impacts the community, environment, and habitat for plants, animals, and humans.
LARC 4900 | Directed Studies in Landscape Architecture
An independent research class, I studied the idea of the Third Place, especially in regards to college campuses. I then chose and researched a specific highly-trafficked but low long-term use area on campus, and concluded with several proposed solutions to encourage students, faculty, and visitors to stay and gather.
LARC 1160 | History of Landscape Architecture
During a series of lectures, I learned about the origins of designing landscapes, its official recognition as a job and college major, and the directions landscape architects are heading. The course also included several exams, homework, and projects to correlate with the units.
LARC 3190 + LARC 4900 (2) | Off-Campus Eleuthera Study Abroad + Independent Direct Studies
The study abroad program to finish off my Landscape Architecture minor, I was able to go to Eleuthera, the Bahamas for part of my Summer in 2025. We researched sustainability in tourism, and the contrast of hospitality tourism with the local communities. The course finished with a sketchbook journal and reflection paper of the trip, and the following Fall, I had the opportunity to take an independent directed-study course. Within this second course, I analysed a site we had visited, and proposed a clubhouse restaurant as a revitalization project on a hotel and educational center that focuses on fostering community between the Eleutheran locals and introducing tourists to true Bahamian culture. The project was then presented to the foundation’s board of directors and president, and will help to raise money with the intent of the design being built.
LARC 4970 | Landscape Aesthetics
This course focused more on the psychological benefits of landscape, particularly considering beauty and aesthetics as more than visual elements, but also as sensory experiences. For the latter half of the course, I wrote several poems, which are then compiled within a booklet and final presentation.
